The Herb & Garden Fest, an award-winning spring
event held in downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi and sponsored by the
Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Visitors Center along with
community volunteers will be held March 19th & 20th, 2005. This two-day learning event celebrates the growth, culinary use, and medicinal use of plants in our daily lives. There are activities for young and old, novices and masters in the multi-faceted offering which features the growth and use of the daylily, Ocean Springs' city flower, and oregano/marjoram the national herb for 2005. Shop through the wide variety of vendors. Visit the Peace Pole Garden. Catch the free mini-lectures and demonstrations offered all day, both days. Relax while listening to music by local musicians, and chat with the experts while your children participate in fun-filled learning activities in the outdoor area surrounding the historic L&N Depot and Marshall Park. Walk through the streets of town to learn to identify various plants labeled in the beautifully manicured and abundant herb and flower beds and planters. Participate in guided Garden Tours and Herb Walks through the unique private gardens opened especially to festival visitors for sharing and learning. Replenish your energy and let your palette experience delightful adventures by partaking in the special offerings at our local restaurants and on the festival site where the chefs will playfully use herbs, flowers, and spices in their cuisine for the weekend.
